Mediterranean Beef Burgers
These burgers are absolutely perfect for a summer barbeque. Stuff them into pita bread and stack them with sweet red onion, kalamata pitted olives and tangy feta cheese for a truly scrumptious treat.
PREP TIME: 15 minutes
COOK TIME: 15 minutes
SERVES: 4 people
Ingredients:
- 500g Mince Beef
- 2 Crushed Garlic Cloves
- 4-5 Tbsp Breadcrumbs
- 1 Egg
- 2 Tbsp Cretan Life Seasoning Mix for Burgers
- 75g Crumbled Feta Cheese
- 1 Tbsp Minoan Taste Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 1 Tbsp Salt
- Fresh Ground Pepper
To Serve:
Juice of 1 Lemon
Pita Breads
Pitted Kalamata Olives
Greek-style Yogurt
Sliced Red Onion
Feta Cheese
Method:
1. Place the minced beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Cretan Life Seasoning Mix for Burgers, crushed garlic and crumbled feta cheese in a bowl. Combine them together – it’s always easier to do this by hand.
2. Season the mixture with a couple of pinches of salt and some freshly ground black pepper. Cover the bowl and let the mixture marinade together in the fridge for at least an hour.
3. Divide the mixture evenly (around eight burgers) and shape into burger patties.
4. Brush some Minoan Taste Extra Virgin Olive Oil onto a hot BBQ or a grill pan and then place the burgers on top.
5. Cook for about 7 minutes and then flip them over, ensuring that they are golden brown on both sides and cooked through.
6. Finally, squeeze over some lemon juice and then serve them in soft pita breads and let your guests ‘build their own’ with slices of red onion, chunks of feta cheese, pitted Kalamata Olives and a drizzle of Greek-style yogurt.
Enjoy!
